Biography

S. Kristol, whose real name is Stéphane Kristol, is a French contemporary artist, born in 1988 in Le Mans, recognized for his sculptures, paintings, and mixed media creations that blend Pop Art, urban art, contemporary figurative art, and pop sculpture. An self-taught artist, he has developed a unique universe since childhood centered around Paschat, a hybrid character inspired by the tiger, a symbol of power, elegance, and freedom, to whom he associates the tenderness and innocence of a teddy bear. A true thread running through his work, Paschat becomes the spokesperson for a reflection on equality, social justice, ecology, respect for living beings, and the contradictions of our contemporary society.

Before fully dedicating himself to his artistic career, Stéphane Kristol works as an art agent, an experience that allows him to observe the functioning of the art market and to be in contact with many established creators. This immersion nourishes his practice and refines his vision before he decides to develop his own plastic language. His work is distinguished by resin sculptures, enriched with aerosol painting, graffiti, material effects, and elements from urban culture. The artist combines bright colors, glossy surfaces, and meticulous details to create immediately accessible works, where aesthetics become a means of conveying a deeply humanistic message without ever descending into frontal denunciation.

His first emblematic works, including Equality, Reflection, and Truth, stage Paschat confronting the great contemporary challenges such as pollution, inequalities, or human responsibility in the face of nature. Far from a moralizing discourse, S. Kristol favors a positive approach where beauty, poetry, and emotion invite the viewer to look at the world differently. His universe also mixes industrial references – barrels, pallets, subways, tagged walls – with characters imbued with softness, creating a characteristic contrast to his artistic identity.

Since 2017, S. Kristol has regularly exhibited in France, Switzerland, Luxembourg, and Belgium, before gradually expanding his visibility internationally through several galleries. His works are now presented on major platforms of the contemporary art market and are part of many private collections. Thanks to his immediately recognizable universe, his iconic character Paschat, and a practice mixing contemporary sculpture, Pop Art, Street Art, urban culture, and figurative art, S. Kristol establishes himself as one of the emerging French figures in the contemporary art scene, developing accessible, poetic, and engaged work that invites everyone to rediscover a part of childhood while reflecting on the issues of our time.
