Born in 1965, Sylvain Lang lives and works in Nancy. His work is mainly pictorial but he uses the codes of conceptual art, particularly in his video installations.
Like the Impressionists, he paints real scenes of everyday life. His realistic work captures instants and scenes from reality. The various subjects of his paintings speak of our time, based primarily on the representation of living (young people swimming at the sea, a crowd in the streets) but also everyday objects (an Italian coffeepot, a Vespa) which are, for him, contemporary icons.
Sylvain Lang appropriates iconic objects embedded in our collective unconscious and moments of universal life. He offers us another interpretation of reality.
