Carlito Dodici

Carlito was born in 1992 in central France, more precisely in Nevers. Since he was a little boy, he has been immersed in the world of abstract art. His father's paintings covering the walls of his house opened the doors to the creative world for him.

In 2016 he met Mr. Pierre Soulages in Sète. This memorable evening made him realize that painting for a lifetime was something admirable and deeply respectable. This meeting gave him overflowing creative energy. He kept in touch with Pierre and Colette Soulages during the following years.

Hypersensitive, he was always overwhelmed by both the beauty and the harshness of life. The death of his mother from cancer deeply affected him, painting was his lifeline.

“I like to think that my painting is the reflection of a person recovering from their trauma. At the beginning of my creation, the colors mix randomly in an uncontrolled gesture, the accidents of life form a construction... Then I begin the deconstruction of the work, with various processes in order to obtain harmony, balance. .

An admirer of the works of Pierre Soulages, master of black alongside whom he exhibited his productions on the walls of the Outreloire gallery in Nevers, Carlito nevertheless makes colors rain on his supports. Acrylic on canvas, digital screen printing, inlay on wood, painting on glass: on each medium, its pigments spread out and the shapes become familiar without ever betraying their own contours.

Pain is the driver, instinct is the tool, and the unexpected is the reward.
