Asu

Asu, real name Jimmy Alcala, is a Franco-Spanish artist, he lives and works in Marseilles.

He began by learning the basics of calligraphy. Asu quickly bypassed rules and headed towards abstract work revolving around movement and inner energy. He explores these themes till date.

According to Asu, art is a way to soul-search, a rite of passage between microcosm and macrocosm which leads to a rise in conscience. His deconstructed calligraphy, whose curves and lines mix together, are the fruit of this passage. Depiction of emotional work where the viewer receives the vibration of gestures.

Since 2016, Asu has been invited to participate in several projects among which: Street Talk France (Paris / Tirana / Berlin), "Hotel128" at Street Art City (Lurcy Lévis, France) in artistic residency and Gargar Festival ( Catalonia, Spain).
