Biography

Jolek is a self-taught French artist who lives and works in Le Havre.

Jolek started his graffiti training on the streets and grew up influenced by local artists such as NEFAZ, Jace, Arsen, 1Pek, Ore, Syr, or Rash.
It was in 1998 that Jolek, who was a high school student by then, fully started working with graffiti alongside DOZ, his work companion until 2002. At that time, the young artist was attracted by the vandal aspect of graffiti and he loved working in prohibited places such as: railways, freight trains, highways, abandoned buildings or blockhouses.

It was not until 2002 that the artist started signing his work with the pseudonym "Jolek". His favorite backgrounds are cars, brick walls and the female body - since he started practicing body painting in 2002.
Jolek focuses primarily on lettering, but sometimes incorporates characters in his compositions - he is specially inspired by Vaughn Bode's work.
This young artist's graffiti has been exposed throughout France and beyond: from Havre to Rouen, Bordeaux, Amsterdam, Paris and Toulouse.

Jolek's works have been exhibited in La Bohême, in Deauville and at the PAINT ART gallery in Lisieux.
