Biography

Fiction is at the heart of Estelle Lagarde's work. Since 1996, his beginnings as an author in photography, staging has been his raw material, well beyond its own style. It starts from reality to lead us towards the dream, the absurd, the incongruous and questions our condition, our intimacy. From "Lady of Dreams" to "Wild Tales", from "Hospital" to "House of Arrest", it is through the strange and the dreamlike that she seems to want to look at and experience the world. which surrounds it. This world which is also ours.

Estelle Lagarde plays with time and light. Based on a more or less long pause, the artist's technique generates unreal lights, enveloping the characters in a mysterious and fragile halo. All the photographs are taken in the bedroom, on silver prints. The encounter with a place is the triggering and tangible factor of a visual construction, of a plunge into fiction, and in a return movement, of a possible questioning of reality. Her photographer's eye is also that of an architect: on the ground, by discovering buildings in the process of being destroyed, rehabilitated and destined for a new vocation, the idea of a new staging is born.
