Biography
Almost 30 years of history with wood. Cabinetmaker by training, Christophe Catelle now devotes himself fully to sculpture.
Essentially in wood, mostly round, his sculptures seek to emphasize the complexity of life. They always start with a meeting: wood and him. He scrutinizes the energy through the veins of the tree, the life that has patiently accumulated there, all of his energy, his creativity and his way of bouncing back. His sculpture is a look at the tensions of life. Often patinated for a play on appearances and a more direct reading, it is the wood that guides it.
Polished wood, blackened wood, lacerated, stained, rounded, each time it is a slice of life…
