Bronze Sculpture for Sale
Born in 1887, Jamini Roy was an Indian painter. He received his Fine Art diploma from the Government College of Art, where he trained in the western classical style.
Inspired by Bengali folk traditions, Roy used his canvases as a means of exploring Indian identity and rebellion against the British Empire. Celebrated for his commitment to his heritage, Roy has been referred to as the father of modern Indian art. He received the Padma Bhushan in 1955 from the Indian government - a high ranking civilian honor.
