Biography

Alessandro Pomi (1890-1976) was an Italian painter and decorator, born in Mestre on October 7, 1890 and died in Venice on March 27, 1976. 

He studied at the Academy Fine Paintings in Venice under the direction of Ettore Tito, devoting himself mainly to painting seascapes and landscapes, but also to the study of figures. 

Pomi participated in various exhibitions in Italy and abroad, including Pittsburgh, London, Buenos Aires, Munich, Milan, Venice and Treviso. Among his many works are a large altarpiece made in Sydney and paintings of the Way of the Cross for the cathedral of Treviso. His works have been presented at public auctions, with at least 33 sales recorded, mainly in the category of paintings. 

Notable pieces include the Pigeon Meal and the Portrait of a Man in Profile, which attest to his versatility in subjects. Alessandro Pomi's legacy endures through his contributions to 20th century Italian art, with works preserved in public and private collections.
