Elio Mazzella followed his father's footsteps, an artist who was a pupil of Michele Cammarano. Elio Mazzella's career is punctuated by numerous participations in high-level exhibits, including in Rome in 1966 at the "Palazzo delle Esposizioni". Followed the exhibitions in Naples, at the "Galleria Schettini" in 1975; Brescia, "Abba" in 1976; and again Naples, "Zodiaco" in 1977. It will be in Ferrara, at the Palazzo dei Diamanti in 1981; in Rome at the XI Quadrennial in 1985; and in Castelfranco Veneto, Casa del Giorgione in 1989. "Premio Cagli" (first prize) in 1989; then in Madrid, on the occasion of the IV International Exhibition in 1991; in Rome, in San Michele a Ripa always in '91; in Castel Sant’Angelo, in 1997; in Celano (AQ), for the 15th Triennial of Sacred Art, in 2000. The rich critical set: from Palma Bucarelli to Argan to Venturoli to Solmi, up to Carlo Levi.


His research on cements, the main material of industrial civilization, is very interesting and original. He participated in the 54th "Venice Biennale", and in 2010 he was included in the small group of artists present at the Museo del Novecento in Castel Sant’Elmo, Naples.


Since 1990, he has also devoted himself to sculpture and has created many works, using war relics of the last conflict. His Ghosts of War have been particularly successful by the most qualified critics.
