HIROSHI TACHIBANA was born in 1967 in Kobe, Japan where he still lives.
At the age of 16, during an exhibition, he discovered the painting of Francis Bacon and decided to start painting. He attended the College of Art in Kyoto, then attracted by literature and South American painting, he continued his studies in Mexico at the Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado "La Esmeralda". Back in Japan, he worked as a stevedore in the port of Kobe and as a farm worker on his brother's farm.
Hiroshi Tachibana's painting explores the complex relationship between man and the living world in a country where mountains, stones and trees are often held sacred.
