Presentation

Santiago Borja realized in 2011 two RGB carpets invested the Villa Savoye. These are works woven in Mexico by Zapotec Indians with traditional colors and fabrics from southeastern Mexico. By adding, inside and around the villa, works referring to ancestral Maya crafts related to housing (palapa and weaving), Borja has updated the original function of the villa – a dwelling – and “decolonizes" her from her status as an icon.

His work is present in important collections (Jumex Foundation, Kadist Foundation, FRAC Aquitaine, FRAC Nord Pas de Calais…) and he represents the Mexican pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2022.
