Samantha Van der Westhuizen

Samantha van der Westhuizen is South African born and raised. She obtained her degree in Bachelor of Education: Foundation Phase.  The change in the profession came with her move to Portugal 3 years ago, she always had a passion to create although she enjoys the freedom of working on large surfaces with the murals, painting on canvas remains her first love, as she gets to create what inspires her. Acrylic is her preferred medium. She works between the brush and palette knife. 

Art/creating allows her to grow, experiment, and make mistakes, all while knowing that the enjoyment she had created, will bring someone else as much joy when looking at it. Art is part of Samantha's everyday life, whether it be in the past, the present, or the future. 

"Creating for me is about the process. Putting together elements that appeal to me. There is no preplanned or set-out idea. A color palette and one element evolve gradually My work is created through emotion. It's creating a color feast left to the interpretation of the viewer".
