Presentation

Antonio Amat studies Art in Barcelona, where he delves into the techniques and theories of art. 1975 receives the award for the best local artist from Martorell, with a first exhibition at Celler de cal Nicolau, Barcelona. In the eighties he created the Bartallegi design studio. Since the nineties he has been professionally dedicated to artistic creation.

A first stage that lasted until 1980 is marked by surrealism and the influence of Salvador Dalí, whom he knows personally in his studio in Port Lligat. It is in the 90s that his artistic language will be revealed, which will lead him to the work current, making a very significant contribution to contemporary art "Amat is a figure in the international art scene with a unique and individual vision towards abstract art", ArtsSpike (NY). He exhibits in Barcelona, New York, various cities in France, Germany, Spain and Italy, and participates in both national and international Art Fairs.

From these years on, Amat incorporates a third dimension into his work, and the different variables will gradually be incorporated, both at a material and conceptual level, in the different artistic works that he produced in the first decade of the 2000s. He shows us a work in which he expands the possibilities of expression of the apparently known and opens a door to intellectual play and expression. The force in the gesture and the indisputable light of color accompany him, establishing themselves in his works and transmitting a vital nerve to his canvases.

Since 2000 he regularly collaborates for the Maeght Gallery, Barcelona, making both individual and collective exhibitions, together with gallery artists, such as Joan Miro, Antoni Tápies, Eduardo Chillida.

The solo exhibition entitled "The Mystery of Alchemy" takes place at the Maeght Gallery in 2003, and shows works of art of medium size, large format and works of art on paper, as well as sculptures, where the maturity and strength of his artistic language remains latent. This exhibition represents a great impact on his career.

In this decade he has several solo exhibitions in cities of Europe and the United States. In 2010 he collaborates with Etra Fine Art Gallery of Miami USA, working and exhibiting his work regularly in solo and group exhibitions with Hunt Slonem, Donald Sultan, Robert Indiana.

In 2011 he participated in the exhibition “We the Artist", of the National Museum of Trinidad & Tobago (curator Nicollette Ramirez), which presents a selection of artists from all over the world and from different disciplines, with Marina Abramovic, Spencer Tunick, Anselm Reyle, Ashley Bickerton.

The origin, the essence, the elements, the interculturality and the contemporaneity are concepts of the work of Amat, he has been developing until the present time.
