Sophie Westerlind

Sophie Westerlind lives and works between Stockholm, Venice and Paris. She mainly paints the body, often nude and from life. She creates a space of intimacy on the canvas where she explores both the body and her own artistic gaze. Oil or oil pastel are his favorite techniques, demanding mediums. This touch is part of the tradition of English painting of Freud or Bacon. His treatment of the touch recalls that the artist studied at Saint Martin's, then at the Royal College of Art in London. Her interest in the expressive potential of the human body also led her to the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice.
