Patricia Multa depicted the flowers and seeds that grow on the ininti tree, which is found abundantly at Muruntji, west of Kungkayunti (Browns Bore), the artist's family's home region in the central Australian desert. The ininti flower later provides the seeds for making necklaces and is abundant on the towering ininti trees that grow along dry riverbeds throughout the Western Desert. The ininti tree (bat-wing coral tree) is native to the Western Desert of central Australia, growing in the sand around creek beds. Ininti grow abundantly in the Muruntji area, where the artist spent much time collecting seeds.
Patricia Multa and her daughter Virgillia Multa both paint Ininti at Muruntji, expressing the colors and movement of the Ininti tree and its seeds and flowers throughout the seasons. Patricia remembers collecting the seeds as a child and making necklaces from them. The seeds can be found in the sand or inside the pods still on the trees. The seeds naturally grow in varying colors, from dark red to light yellow. The flowers are equally vibrant, ranging from rich oranges to reds. Ininti are still collected today and made into desert jewelry at the Ikuntji Artists' Cooperative.
Provenance: Ikuntji Artists (Official Aboriginal Artists Cooperative), Haasts Bluff, Northern Territory, Australia.

The work is accompanied by the official certificate of authenticity from the artist's cooperative. Patricia Multa is an Australian Aboriginal artist of the Luritja people, born in 1973 and living in the Haasts Bluff (Ikuntji) Aboriginal community in the central Australian desert. She is part of the Ikuntji Aboriginal Artists Cooperative at Haasts Bluff, where she has been painting since 2006.
She is the younger sister of traditional owner and lawyer Douglas Multa and renowned artist Alison Multa. Her two younger sisters, Lisa and Benita, also paint. Patricia grew up with her family at Kungkayunti (Browns Bore), a substation 1.5 hours' drive south/west of Haasts Bluff. Kungkayunti is the country (ancestral land) of her father, Joe Tjakamarra Multa, and her mother, Magdelena Multa Napaltjari, is from Haasts Bluff. Patricia attended Yirara College in Alice Springs from 1986 to 1988, where she was a boarder, before returning to Haasts Bluff, where she has lived ever since.
Patricia began painting in the late 1990s and has worked with the Ikuntji Artists Cooperative since 2006. Patricia is married to Patrick Nolan, who also paints. Their daughter, Virgillia Multa, is an emerging artist with the Ikuntji Artists Cooperative.
She began by painting her Bush Fire Dreaming and Kungkayunti Women Dancing. Today, her paintings primarily depict the bush seeds and flowers of the Ininti trees at Muruntji, west of Kungkayunti.
In her work, she experiments with color and movement using fine brushstrokes, and is renowned for her shimmering works with swirling patterns celebrating the nuances of her ancestral land throughout the seasons.
His works are included in numerous collections in Australia, such as the South Australian Museum, Adelaide, SA, and the Richard and Harriett England Collection, Sydney, NSW.
