Description
As with the majority of my work, I don't have any preconceived idea of what the outcome of any painting will be. I just paint and the creativity comes from the process. Unfortunately working like this I have a high failure rate, but when a painting comes together, it makes all the failures worthwhile. Because of this process, and not knowing what will transpire, what the viewer thinks is of little concern to me. Hopefully the viewer will like it. Viewers will see what they want to see based on their own likes and experiences. They might see something that others do not, including me. For that reason, it will become very personal to them. This painting is painted with acrylic paints on unstretched canvas. Is should be stretched on stretcher bars, or matted and framed which I suggest.
Presentation
Artist Statement:
For me, the actual process of painting, the physical activity of it, the manipulation of the medium and the subconscious imagery that surface are of interest to me. I want to validate my relationship with them but they are suspect. I destroy many of these images trying to articulate the elusive. It's an emotional and intellectual struggle that never seems to end.
Education:
After many years in the graphic design field I am now devoting my energies to painting full time. I have been painting seriously for the past twenty years. Although I do some figurative work, I'm primarily an abstract/ non-objective and abstract landscape painter. Although formally educated in art and graphic design, I attribute my development as a painter through experimentation and the actual process of painting more than any formal academic studies.
