    Artwork sold in perfect condition

Japanese Gardens (枯 山水, karesansui) are miniature stylized landscapes made of rocks, moss, gravel and sand. The gravel is raked in different patterns intended to represent ripples on the surface of a pond. Zen gardens are usually found in monasteries, such as the famous karesansui at Ryoan-ji temple in Kyoto. These miniature landscapes are an expression of the essence of nature, a spectacle that invites us to meditate on the true meaning of life.

I used a variety of supports and media for this series, combining canvas, wood panels, washi (traditional Japanese paper) or shikishi (a thick Japanese paper, as stiff as cardboard) with acrylic, posca , Iwa-enogu (natural pigments) and soda labels which of course represent plastic pollution, which is invading even the most sacred places on the planet today.

The additional architectures surrounding and threatening the garden are 3D printed elements and form an essential part of the representation, a character in its own right, which calls into question the very existence of the garden.
