Description
This artwork depicts a majestic mountain scene, vividly capturing the essence of nature in all its glory. The mountains, towering and majestic, dominate the center of the composition, their peaks bathed in a golden light that creates a striking contrast with the deep shadows of the valleys. The painter has skillfully used the play of light to accentuate the reliefs and contours of the mountains, bringing out their grandeur and ruggedness. The calm water in the foreground acts as a crystal clear mirror, impeccably reflecting the greenish hues of the mountains and sky, adding extra depth and dimension to the composition. The smooth surface of the lake creates a sense of tranquility and peace, in contrast to the raw power of the mountains. The sky, dotted with a few fluffy clouds, adds a touch of dynamism to the whole. The colours used are strikingly realistic, with deep blues and lush greens, faithfully depicting the rugged beauty of this mountainous region. This painting is distinguished by its meticulous attention to detail and mastery of light and shadow techniques to create a vibrant and lively scene. Presentation
He was the son of Enrico Colombi and Hedwig Huber.
After his secondary studies in Lausanne, he began studying architecture at the Technikum Winterthur, but quickly moved towards artistic and craft training.
In 189 he was in Paris. He then worked as a decorative painter in Bern and from 1899 he became a freelance artist. In 1904 he married Marguerite Petter. He lived in various regions of the canton of Bern, from 1924 in Spiez, where he also died.
In 1939, the Kunsthalle Bern exhibited his works.
