"Hanami" is a Japanese word which means to observe the flowers; hana (flower) miru (look, observe). Today, as for a long time, all of Japan enjoys Hanami festivals; which involves sitting under the sakura or cherry blossoms, talking, drinking and eating, while the pale pink flakes of the flowers fall. This celebration contains a deeper and more poetic reflection for Orientals; the fleeting beauty that escapes, that falls, like petals in the air and that we must celebrate every day of our life with joy and gratitude. My series of photographs of the jacaranda and the tipas were taken during these ceremonies organized in Buenos Aires. The motivation was to record our native flora and incorporate this Japanese reflection into it, portraying the "fleeting beauty" of the petal shower of these magnificent trees, in a time so difficult for nature contemplation, especially in the great city.
