Description
This intriguing work presents a vibrant and narrative style. At its center, a woman, seen from above, wearing a pink top and a blue floral skirt, gazes intently at the viewer. The plunging perspective creates a disconcerting sense of intimacy. Around her are suggestive elements of a picnic: a basket, a colorful tablecloth, scattered fruit, and white flowers. The snake on the right adds symbolic tension, contrasting with the apparent tranquility of the scene. The interplay of light and shadow on the woman's face accentuates the emotional depth of the image. The vivid colors, dominated by green, pink, and blue, infuse the work with striking vitality. This bold and detailed composition explores the nuances of perception and the ambiguity of everyday situations, transforming an ordinary scene into a captivating visual exploration.
Presentation
Holding a vocational certificate in cabinetmaking and wood carving, Augustin Discart pursued his passion for art. He enrolled at the Beaux-Arts in Tourcoing. After obtaining his bachelor's degree, he moved to Lyon to study at the Émile Cohl school.
Her works juxtapose the living and the material, reflecting her ecological commitment.
His series “Versus” expresses this confrontation, inspired by the Latin word meaning “against” or “opposite”.
At the crossroads of realist traditions, pop aesthetics, and contemporary reflections on the world, Augustin Discart's practice is a hybrid one. Playing with conventions and juxtaposing oil and acrylic paints, he explores the fundamental tensions between nature—in its most sacred form—and human creations. His works deconstruct the artificial order established by humankind and place life at the heart of the narrative.
Through his visual poetry, Augustin pays homage to life by revealing its full emotional depth. Using oil paint, he captures all the subtleties and beauty of bodies: the intimacy of a gaze, its reflections and doubts - the shadows caressing the skin, making each curve and imperfection as precious as a fragment of light.
In contrast, Augustin embraces a deliberately childlike aesthetic, freeing himself from technical mastery to depict what has been shaped by humankind. He thus displays a form of ironic contempt for human arrogance. The bright, saturated colors symbolize an exacerbated artificiality. The unfinished aspect underscores their derisory nature. The naive flatness of these elements then becomes the symbol of an intrinsic need to return to innocence, to a time when everything was still possible.
