Description
Abstraction is expressed here through a play of organic textures. This acrylic painting achieves a chromatic fusion between red, yellow, and violet. The hues intertwine in a fluid movement. Each area seems to bubble, creating effects of cells and currents.
The composition is organized in horizontal layers. The eye circulates between dense areas and more airy spaces. The artist explores the material in its freest form. The pigments mix without fading, offering a rhythmic visual depth.
This piece dates from 2001. It testifies to a research into the fluidity and alchemy of colors. The final rendering evokes cosmic landscapes or microscopic views. The contrast between the warmth of the ochres and the coolness of the mauves structures the entire support. The work is presented in a sober black frame.
Presentation
Born in 1939 in Mortagne sur Gironde, in Charente-Maritime, he marries at the age of 20. Very young, he begins a long series of travels around the world that will last nearly 40 years. His professional life and the numerous affairs he manages oblige him to divide his time between Black Africa, mainly Abidjan, and Nouméa in New Caledonia. He becomes a confirmed expert in African Art and advises the best international collectors. Since his youngest age Christian Debenest has been fascinated by drawing, and more particularly by comics. His occupations will oblige him to limit himself to drawing that he frequently does in inseparable travel notebooks. At the end of the 80s he dedicates himself to painting, drawing inspiration since 1997 from the hypothetical "string theory". He creates this approach as being the tense flows.
