Description

Sculptural art here takes over animal movement with remarkable precision. The bronze captures the fleeting moment of an obstacle race. Five figures succeed each other in a rhythmic drive.
The work on volumes emphasizes the muscular tension of the horses. Each posture translates a distinct phase of the jump. The balance between strength and lightness guides the eye along the composition.
The dark patina accentuates the reliefs and the play of shadows. The silhouettes stand out clearly against the background. The riders merge with their mounts in a common effort.
This piece explores the dynamics of equestrian sport. The repetition of forms creates a sense of speed. The minimalist base supports the entire scene.
The technical execution highlights anatomical mastery. The whole rests on a thin rectangular base. The structure emphasizes the linearity of the progression.

Presentation

I am the son of an artist who captured the beauty of a silhouette, and an officer who taught me the honor of duty.

I grew up between moves and goodbyes – garrisons, cities, landscapes that passed by... Each move was a new blank page, a new opportunity to start over. I followed the rhythm of my parents' assignments; in Africa in particular where only a European of my class enjoyed great freedom. Going and coming according to my desires, I spent more time in the playground than in class. A very environment far removed from the school rules practiced in metropolitan France which allowed me very early to taste the delights of the private school.

An atypical path more conducive to creation than to academic learning. A path that unconsciously shaped this choice, discovering some talents for graphic arts. My guide was probably my mother who, through her education and training, had a free and open spirit. A former student of the prestigious Académie Julian, now the Penninghen Higher School of Graphic Art, she detected my predispositions for drawing in very early and encouraged me in this path. This is how my orientation towards architecture became imperative.

In 2010 I joined the MASSAPI workshop located in the heart of the Croix Rousse district in Lyon. A workshop led by Marc Saint Pierre, a sculptor artist. Today, I sculpt to fix movement, to honor memory, and to create works that resist time.

So yes, my sculptures speak of horses, bodies, faces... But deep down, they speak of me: of everything I have received, and of everything I want to transmit.
