Henri Laurens was a prominent French sculptor and artist associated with the Cubist movement. Born on February 18, 1885, in Paris, Laurens initially worked as a stonemason before pursuing his artistic career. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts and later became a close collaborator of Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. Laurens' sculptures combined abstraction and geometric forms, often exploring the human figure and still life subjects. He experimented with materials such as wood, bronze, and plaster, pushing the boundaries of traditional sculpture. Laurens' works displayed a dynamic interplay between volume and space, reflecting the influence of Cubism. His art was featured in major exhibitions, including the Salon d'Automne and the Salon des Indépendants. Henri Laurens passed away on May 5, 1954, leaving behind a significant artistic legacy and a lasting impact on modern sculpture.
