A self-taught painter, Gabriel Baptiste is an optimist, a man whose paintings are, above all, bearers of hope as well as beauty.

We can say that, almost obsessively, he seeks musicality, rhythm, poetic fantasy.

Thanks to his very particular style of relief graphics, the artist works with juxtaposed lines. With red, it expresses joy, enthusiasm, recklessness, anger.

With darker colors, he paints the sea or the night and its mysteries, its fears, its beings and its imagined and imaginary forms. With the intense blue, it describes the sea during the day.

He also paints in a more complete range, the carnival which has its roots deep in ancient Rome.

Everything is a pretext for movement. But, even when it seems random, there is an order. The most daring arabesques obey rules. The spiral and concentric or ellipse movements are part of the concert.

In the genesis of his works, at the limit of abstraction, there is always the concern for tomorrow. The next day or rather “tomorrow”. Tomorrow with its uncertainties, but above all tomorrow with its promises. Tomorrow which reminds us that there can always be something new: to say, to write, to paint, to interpret, to invent...
