Biography
Born in 1969, Wang Xingwei is a Chinese contemporary artist. He graduated from the Fine Art Department of Shenyang Normal University in 1999.
Unconcerned by conventions of artistic genre, Xingwei borrows from other traditions to produce compositions which are rich in their cultural and historical allusions. His canvases feature recurring characters, situated in surreal, dramatic scenes, full of wit and humor.
Exhibitions of Xingwei's paintings have taken place across China and in Europe. Recent solo exhibitions have been held in Zürich (2023), Shanghai (2022) and Beijing (2019).
