Presentation

Winshluss, whose real name is Vincent Paronnaud, is a French comic book author and filmmaker born in La Rochelle in 1970.

Having an easily recognizable style, Winshluss skillfully manipulates black humor to depict with a squeaky irony the America of the 30s and 50s. His drawings with details reminiscent of Disney contrast with ter macabre situations in which he places his personages. His Trash version of Pinocchio won him the prize for best album during the Festival of Angoulême in 2009.

Over the years, albums such as "Welcome to the Death Club" or "Smart Monkey" have made him become one of the biggest authors of Francophone comics strips. He directed the magazine Ferraille for some time with his friend Cizo. As a filmmaker, he co-directed with Marjane Satrapi the animated feature film "Persepolis" (Special prize of the Jury in Cannes). He is also the author of several short films and of the medium-lenght film "Villemolle 81".

His work has been exhibited in various solo and group exhibitions: Amour (Space GHP, Toulouse, 2008) Supermarché Ferraille (Albi 2001, Angoulême 2002), Musée Ferraille (Angoulême 2003, Marseille 2006). In 2009, the Angoulême Festival invited Winshluss to organized a big retrospective exhibition.
