Victor Morawo

Victor Morawo (b. 2001) is a young contemporary impasto painter from Oyo state, southwestern Nigeria. His artistic career started as a self-taught artist during his high school education which fueled his desire to learn art professionally, a move that led him to study art and design at The Ibarapa Polytechnic, Eruwa.

Inspired by the works of art masters such as Rembrandt, Vincent Van Gogh, Henry Taylor, Lynette Yiadom-Boakye, Kehinde Wiley, Oluwole Omofemi, etc. Morawo's art is inspired by his life experience of humanity, especially social issues faced by humans with unique qualities different from the so-called "social standard". 

This reflects in some of his works including "self-acceptance", "self-love", "body-positivity", "down-to-earth". He sees art as a way to express himself to the world. Morawo believes "art is for many eyes but few hearts" hence, he never forsakes originality in every one of his works, for the few hearts who see the message.

His works are currently in the collections of a few individuals such as the Kehinde Wiley Collection, Amoako Boafo Collection, and others, In 2019, he did an internship at the Oluwole Omofemi Studio, after his national diploma program, in a bid to fine-tune his artistic skill set needed to deliver his expression in the best form and also fulfill his potential as an artist in this digital age.
