Presentation
Sylviane Canini was born in 1954 in Paris. 1977 Graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts N. Grigoresco graphic section in Bucharest, Romania. “She engraves traces of the body, translates the emotion of a movement, exalts the fragility of the material. Sylviane Canini is anchored in a classicism which seduces by its erudition and its elegance. At home, the drawing prays. An unfinished drawing, in suspense. A desire that is yet to come. His characters seem to be born under the gaze, as when one discovers a barely lit fresco. “I like the suggestion,” she says. "It makes you dream and makes the characters universal". Dream accentuated by earth and ecru colors. Colors which, by the modesty of their tone, veil a certain voluptuousness. For this she "uses the transparency of paper, inks and lines". French born to a Romanian father, at the age of 19, she decided to study at the Fine Arts in Bucharest. Engraving immediately seduced her, she was introduced to etching and aquatint. She tames steel, frees her line. Back in France, she will deepen her technique, find her style.
