Growing up in Paris, Mathieu painted with his first spray paint in 1994, in San-Fransisco, during his final year, in high-school.
Back in France, the artist invests in disused Parisian places and experiences this rather 'nervous' unstable but fascinating medium for a longer period of time. He spends some nights in Paris metro depots, and on the edges of RER lines.
In the second half of the 90s, Mathieu invests new walls ...:
Those whose owners ask for his achievements.
The idea is then to graphically translate the very diverse intentions of the sponsors. An exercise in real artistic contortionism.
20 years later, and after 700 frescoes framed, organized, timed, of all formats and of all kinds, Mathieu decides to tear up these systematic specifications, by expressing himself in particular on canvases, in galleries.
Now it will be:
To compose from your own emotions felt over significant periods of life ... But also to compose with regard to human nature as it appears.
