Biography

Born in 1965 in Albertville Zaire. She studied at La Cambre Brussels (1989) and at the Parsons School of Design in New York City, USA (1984). Painting professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Arlon. She has exhibited all over the world but mostly in Luxembourg and Belgium.

Since 2005, Nathalie Pirotte has been gluing animal heads on women bodies. The roars of her lionesses however aren't a rebellion or a protest. Let alone a feminist swipe. Just like her rabbits disguised as women.

A year ago, the artist got settled in Brussels, an inspirational city according to her, a city where things are always on the move, lively and this led her into making collages, it's as if the women in her portraits accepted their animal side in a burlesque and classy-porn style mannner. Knowingly superficial or ingeniously committed? The artist contemplates these two facets of the modern woman and strongly rejects the stereotype.
