Dominique Pouchain, ceramist and sculptor, creates refined works inspired by the human and animal figure, combining sobriety and strength to evoke a timeless poetry.

Biography

Dominique Pouchain is a French artist born in 1956. He started his apprenticeship in 1973 at his parents workshop, Jacques and Rolande Pouchain. His father is a ceramist and painter, his mother a decorator. He enrolled as a craftsman in the Chambre des Métiers in 1977 and started creating utilitarian pottery.

Very soon, he started working on his first animal sculptures. The oxide that he uses is one of the peculiarities of his work, his signature. He creates pieces in deep, matte black that absorbs light.
