Biography

Carlo Guarienti (Treviso 1923)

Graduated in Medicine, he has dedicated himself exclusively to painting since 1949. In 1953, in Rome, at the Galleria L’Obelisco, he held his first personal exhibition and always in the same year he exhibited in Paris and Milan.

Since 1954 the artist has participated in numerous group shows in the most important Italian and foreign galleries. In 1956 he was invited to the XXVII edition of the Venice Biennale and to the Royal Academy of London, in 1957 to the Permanente in Milan and in 1959 to the Rome Quadrennial.

He also exhibited at the main international art exhibitions, including the Kunstmesse Art in Basel. He has been the author of television sets and prestigious editorial illustrations. From an initial metaphysical streak, his painting subsequently focused on the language of the expressive deformation of the human figure, to reach, during the eighties, a new form of unreality characterized by the focus of objects incongruously juxtaposed and immersed in a controlled atmosphere of the effects of light and color.
