Biography

Born in 1966 in Hexham, United Kingdom, Glenn Brown is an award-winning painter, sculptor and printmaker based in London. Brown trained at Goldsmiths College in London, before graduating with an MFA in 1992. His artistic style notably draws on the work of Frank Auerbach and Georg Baselitz, to produce warped pictorial representations of human figures. He is also known for using ambitious and unlikely color palettes to produce his works.

Brown was awarded the Turner Prize in 2000. His work has been exhibited frequently over the course of his career, including at the Serpentine Gallery in London in 2004, at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna in 2008, and at Tate Liverpool in 2009.
