Biography

A child prodigy born in China in 1986, Tiantian Xu learned with talent the art of oil painting at the University of Shanghai, where she was elected best student. During her studies at the School of Fine Arts of Angers, Tiantian Xu discovered other practices and connections between art gestures by creating a bridge between two artistic worlds, Europe and the Far East.

In her series of photographs called "The Dancing Ink", Tiantian Xu resorts to traditional Chinese calligraphy throught contemporary processes. She unveils her Eastern perception of the months of the year through a dimming of expressive and subtle colors. Colorful clouds scattered in water which even if they are only photographies are reminiscent of the famous painting "Feeling from Mountain and Waters", a major kind of traditional Chinese art.
