Figurative expressionism with a storyteller’s soul.
Biography
Rob Omodiagbe is a British-Nigerian contemporary artist based in Australia. After a celebrated career as an award-winning advertising creative in London, New York, and Sydney, Rob returned to his first love: painting. His background as a visual storyteller deeply informs his work, which blends figurative expressionism with gestural abstraction and sharp narrative insight.
Drawing inspiration from fleeting moments, cultural identity, and personal encounters, Rob creates bold, emotionally resonant works using acrylic and oil pastel. His paintings explore the complexities of modern life—race, love, humour, and human connection—through a vivid and unapologetically personal lens.
Rob's work has quickly garnered attention: he was a Finalist in Australia's National Emerging Art Prize (2024), received an Excellence Award from the Whitelock Art Centre International Art Prize in New York, and held a sold-out solo show at Gaffa Gallery. He continues to make a strong impact with his distinctive voice and visual language—each canvas a self-contained story, filled with character and soul.
