For this year’s San Francisco Art Fair, LIGHTWORKS proposes a focused presentation bringing together photography and painting in a visually restrained yet emotionally charged dialogue. The booth will feature works by George Mayer and Rob Omodiagbe, two artists whose practices explore the human condition through distinct but complementary visual languages. Mayer’s photography is minimalist and conceptually driven, using quiet compositions and subtle tonal shifts to investigate memory, presence, and psychological space. His works invite prolonged looking and reward stillness, creating moments of calm intensity within the fair environment. In contrast, Omodiagbe’s paintings are expressive and tactile, marked by bold colour, layered surfaces, and figurative abstraction. His works explore identity, vulnerability, and inner movement, offering a strong emotional counterpoint to Mayer’s photographic restraint. Presented together, the works create a balanced and coherent booth: photography and painting in conversation, structure and gesture, silence and expression. The proposed installation emphasises clarity, space, and visual rhythm, allowing each work to breathe while forming a unified narrative. This presentation is designed to appeal to both established collectors and new audiences, offering accessibility, depth, and strong visual impact within a contemporary fair context.
