Carla Paul

France • 1990

“Carla Paul employs a practice where raw materials and instinctive gestures become language. An aesthetic of silence and the essential, between gentle radicalism and contemplative rigor.”

Biography

Carla Paul is a French artist from the North, whose practice explores the subtle relationships between matter, light, and silence. After a career in the world of creation, she turned to a more instinctive, refined, and radical form of expression, where each gesture becomes a trace and each texture, a memory.

Her work is rooted in an aesthetic of slowness and essentiality. She favors raw materials, neutral tones, and restrained gestures, seeking to reveal the silent presence of the world through the simplicity of movement.

Close to outsider art and contemplative minimalism, Carla Paul offers a form of spiritual stripping away, a space for breathing where beauty is born from the accuracy of the gesture and the mastery of emptiness.
