Biography

Born November 8, 1960 in Saint Etienne, Christian Vey, a self-taught artist discovered his passion for painting in 1986.
An encounter with a couple of Americans introduced him to the world of galleries (in Arizona, and then in New Orleans).

The artist draws his inspiration from artists as diverse as Georges Laporte (for his motifs of the sea), or from Corno ( a Quebecois). Passionate about Jazz, he uses its rhythm and its leitmotivs to transfer them to his paintings. "Color has started to replace musical notes, and like in jazz, the improvisation has been added" as the artist says.
The artist uses oil paint to compose his figurative paintings. Speed and movement characterize his pieces.

Used to winning trophies (old member of the French Judo Team), he won a silver and a gold medal at the Salon des Artistes in Saint Etienne (1991 to 1992). His exhibitions have expanded; in Paris( European Art Center in 1995), in Saint Etienne (Therme Gallery), in Montréal (Yves Laroche Gallery in 1998), in New Orleans, Washington and New York. Since 2015, the artist's work has been exhibtied by two African collectors. Concerned about coming back to his roots, The artist has recently exhibited in France (Corps et Ame Gallery in Nimes in 2015)
