Description
The Book is a painting aimed at presenting the Bible, and the Old Testament in particular. That is why it consists of three panels dedicated to the three languages - Hebrew, Greek and Bulgarian (Cyrillic). The main idea is that the Bible has been burned and restored over the centuries, so white and black dominate the composition. But the Word brings light and that is the idea behind the silver tones.
The painting is a polyptych of six panels sized 120x60 cm, with a total size of 120x360 cm. They are hinged to open like a book. When hung on a flat wall the panels may be slightly angled in order to keep that feel.
Presentation
Born on 2nd November 1963 in Lovech.
In 1982 graduated from the High School of Applied Arts in Troyan, major Ceramics.
In 1988 graduated from Veliko Turnovo University St. St. Cyril and Methodius, major Graphic Arts under Assoc. Prof. Boumov.
Since 1988 has participated in numerous national and international exhibitions, curators' projects and symposia in Bulgaria, Canada, Germany, USA, UK, Taiwan, etc. and has had 35 one-man shows in Bulgaria, Germany, Austria and USA.
His works are owned by connoisseurs from Bulgaria, UK, Germany and USA as well as by a number of museums of fine art in Bulgaria and abroad.
Works in the field of painting, drawing and non-conventional art forms.
Since 1989 has been a full-time teacher of Drawing and Composition at the National High School of Stage and Film Design in Plovdiv.
Member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists and the Society of Plovdiv Artists.
Lives and works in Plovdiv.
I think that if things were more often presented as a game, a beautiful and fair one, life and the world in general would be nicer and more sincere. This is especially true for art, but it also applies to other spheres of activity. A painting has to bring aesthetic delight, have a light and radiance of its own rather than be a mere copy of reality. Art is a spiritual, non-material experience and it has to stay this way.
