Description

This artwork presents a fascinating juxtaposition of vintage advertisement and classical portraiture. The piece features a beautiful woman draped in translucent fabric, exuding elegance and timeless allure. Overlaid is a bold, graphic text promoting "Aceite Texaco Para Motores," blending commercial and fine art elements. The artwork's distressed texture, with deliberate holes and rough edges, suggests weathered metal, evoking nostalgia and history. This intentional decay contrasts with the figure's serene expression, creating tension and intrigue. The piece uniquely captures the intersection of commerce and beauty, provoking reflection on cultural and artistic values.

Kadir López, Fragmentos de una Época: La Dama Texaco

Kadir López

Cuba  • 1972

Presentation
