Art changes the way people think.
Biography
Christopher Makos is an American photographer, born in 1948. He might have been born in Massachusetts but grew up in California, before leaving for New York after having finished middle school.
He then left for France and studied architecture in Paris. He was Man Ray's assistant, but this didn't last long. Once back in New York, he began photography but this activity cost a lot those days. Christopher Makos needs to sell them to continue this activity. The Rolling Stones magazine was his first client.
In the 70's he met Andy Warhol and spent time at the Warhol Factory. The latter didn't know much about photography but the fact that it was faster than painting attracted him. Makos accompanies him during his first steps, as a photographer. Side by side, he developed his style, a mix between art and photojournalism, but a more graphic one.
It was also through Andy Warhol that he met Basquiat and Keith Harring, two key meetings for his career.
He has exhibited several times in U.S.A, but is known in Europe and Japan for his photos, as they were published in journals like Paris Match.
