Catherine Carrée

For 10 years, she was based in La Guéroulde, the famous contemporary art village in Normandy. Her studio is located opposite the famous association La Source, created by Gérard Garouste, where she regularly works. She currently lives in Côtes-d'Armor.

Catherine Carrée has been working with traces, imprints and drawing since childhood.

In the LES ENCENSÉS series, she burns the paper with a thin incense stick, incandescent, like a meditation, and lets the light pierce through small space-time holes.

She lets the unknown rise. The burnt pixels reveal little corners of the world, the living and the dead. It's up to the soul to unfurl on the white page, and to those who look with the eyes of the heart.
