An architect by training, Hassen initiated himself into painting. In fact, it was through proximity to certain painters that, at a very young age, he became interested in art. He was not a resident of any school but Spain was the start of his pictorial adventure, hence this explosion of colors and lines. Palma is both, for him, the place of awakening and the origin of the passage from architecture to painting ... From Constantine to Palma and since ... the conquest of color. He paints in oils on canvas. His eye goes to the essential, he knows, he knows at first glance the necessary and correct angle as well as the colors which sing next to each other to make us vibrate with emotions in front of the enchantment of the elements. He even knows how to pass the silence and the cold. The artist Ahcéne Meghraoui, known as Hassen, was born in Constantine, Algeria, on November 29, 1955. From his childhood, at the age of twelve, Hassen had decided to become an artist-painter when he discovered the fantastic world of France. art during his first collective exhibition at his high school. Without guide or advice, he preferred to finish his studies. It was at university, in 1975, that he discovered a world he had sought everywhere. Architecture, he will make it his profession, and above all, painting! Regarding the relationship between the plastic arts and architecture, he will say: “architecture and painting have the same goal, namely the propagation of emotion. Creating spaces, adding color and light will do the rest. “Her artistic path is light and color in all that it contains of the marvelous. His artistic work is articulated in several themes and is characterized by the use of mineral materials (marble powder, plaster, plaster ...). The painter plays with shapes and then deforms them, with large, thick strokes in places, sometimes fluid, punctuated by a wide movement. The colors intermingle to give birth to other colors and the light does the rest to give works of great sensitivity. He had six exhibitions in 2000 and 2001. Since the last one in 2002 at the Palace of Culture in Constantine, he has taken refuge in his studio. However, far from being static, on the contrary, it continues to abstract itself from reality in an attempt to open some doors. No less than a hundred new canvases have since expanded its production. His last paintings were presented in 2013 at the French Cultural Center of Constantine. During an original exhibition which brought together the works of two artists, whose talent, sensitivity and technique have captured the public's attention.
