The world according to Gari

The art of iron reuse and his derivative has already attracted more than one person, but a few escaped from the repertoire of the skilled handyman who reduces his realizations as simple creative mechanics. The eye has fun and forgets it straight away. Gari, himself, succeed to escape from the trap of the ingenious assembly. He flees the pointless, rejects the ordinary, contests the common to reach, joyful, the world of the sculpture.

He knows that the third dimension is an open door on the imaginary. As well as the circus tamer, Gari caught hold of his wild animals, the volumes, whom he manages the suggestion power. He has instinctively the feeling of the lines that he hinges on flexibly, always aerial. You can get around his sculpture, overhang them, and see them underneath if you feel like it: everything is stable and is evident.

It would be judicious to suspect at the origin an unborn talent. It became an occupation by distinct hard work with his arms and his head, a strong occupation, desired at all costs, and which makes people think today at ease when the lap is fulfilled. Gari domesticates the railings, fences, threads and metal slabs of all kinds. He assembles them to make the light, this invisible partner, reveals them in their differences. Matts or brightens, those variations are the sculptor’s assets.

He never says that he was scared on the lion’s mouth.

However, he must have had trembles before he inspires to the forms, the impulsions of the idea, and the vitality of the intuition. How he succeeded differently to emerge from the organized areas of the laws, of the harmony and of the balance? Magic… Let yourself be pushed around, let yourself be hoodwinked, twisted, tied up by the charm of those graceful sculptures. It is at that price that the bestiary becomes agitated. “Do you see my beautiful plumage” singing the rooster. “In beauty topic, I fear no one” reply the lion. The camel is satisfied with sticking his tongue out to them.

The Gari menagerie is proud. They have a sense of spirit, those animals! With this tad of humour without what the dignity becomes a heavy pride, Gari makes expresses their impressions, attitudes, muzzles folds.

In watermark, printing is the philosophy of the sculptor who forgets to be naive. Parallel to the lines treatment, it expresses, joyfully, naturally collaborative of the sculpture. Why would they want serious and sad? Ladies and gentlemen, the big show of Gari will start!

Now Gari is exploring new playgrounds, and sometime he makes a find… Particularly with help from the varnish and acid, he tries to include or, on the contrary, to speed up the unexpected rust effects, to take advantage of it. He also likes to enliven the metal with other materials like the glass. Notability too, the colour makes more and more of his apparition on his creations. He realises at the moment some ‘fixed under glass”, again a new creative lead.
