Born in 1938 - France
Joseph Franceli is a French artist born in Sète in 1938. Coming from a familly of fishermen, this self-taught artist started painting at an early age. Particularly gifted, he did his first exhibition at the age of 12. After a short passage by the School of Fine Arts of Montpellier, he came back to his hometown and regularly attended the workshop of Francois Desnoyer. An amateur sailor, he travelled the world before finally coming back and settling in Sète.
In his very particular style, Francelli's work represents one of the strong points of the school of Séte. His very powerful, colorful and humorous paintings immediately capture the public's attention and reflect his strong artistic personality.
His work has been exhibited in numerous galleries in France, besides the work of Fusaro, Baboulene, Routneff, Combas, Di Rosa and Desnoyer.
