Henrietta Dubrey

United Kingdom • 1966

Biography

Originally from Sussex in the United Kingdom, Henrietta Dubrey lives and works in West Penwith close to Cornwall, a region that has attracted a lot of artists that she admires: Roger Hilton, Patrick Heron or Terry Frost were particularly inspired by the beauty and the light of the region.

In 1980, Dubrey studied painting in London at the Byam Shaw School of Art, at the Wimbledon School of Art and at the Royal Academy.

Using mostly the technique of painting on canvas, Henrietta?s abstract works are mostly autobiographical, describing her moods, emotions, moments and situations. Her main themes are the deconstruction and reconstruction of life. Her work evolves as the creation is completed, as the subject of the painting reveals itself and follows its own path. The ideas appear on the surface of the canvas, first in an abstract and fuzzy form and then become more strong and determined - as a metaphor of life.
