Presentation

Anna Masters is an English artist, born in 1983. A versatile artist, she creates sculptures, murals and specific installations. She graduated from Stafford-shire University, the Fine Arts department and London University in 2005.

She uses the technique of nylon threads, by suspending the materials in the frame and creating an intangible moment, she is able to make time stand still. Time and fleeting moments are recurring themes. Her creations play around with the idea to capture a perfect moment and question our knowledge on our resistance to time, changes and the paradox of its inevitability, in a subtle manner.

Anna pays a lot of attention to tenderness and details, they are almost immobile. Surely realistic art but their static appearance takes them away from the natural order of time and passage of time. Anna Masters uses the "wet-on-wet", an unusual painting technique with a gentle mix of colors and shades to create subtle forms.

Her works are widely exhibited in London and around UK, these include public art projects like Elephant Parade (2010 and 2013-14), Jungle City Edinburgh (2011), The Big Faberge Egg Hunt (2012) and City of London Festival (2012).
