Yves Badyh

France

Yves Bady-Dahdah devoted himself very early on to his artistic ambitions.

Educated in metropolitan France (Juilly college, Sainte Barbe college), he took advantage of his brief returns to Pointe-à-Pitre to paint and decorate the shop windows of the rue Frébault.

Charles Aznavour, passing through Guadeloupe in the spring of 1964 for a series of four concerts, is attentive to the work of the young painter. Mr. Aznavour bought him a painting and advised him to come and try his luck in Paris.

In the fall of 1964, freed from his military obligations, Yves Bady-Dahdah embarked on a banana tree to reach Le Havre, then Paris. The young surrealist painter holds various jobs while following the teaching of Edouard Mac-Avoy at the Académie Julian.

It is then presented to Master Salvador Dalí, with whom he stays in Cadaqués for a few weeks.

Yves Bady-Dahdah is also passionate about photography (graduated from the French Institute of Photography in July 1968) and for writing.

In photography, he worked mainly in the field of fashion and advertising until the beginning of the 80s. He took back his cases from the year 2008 to realize a series of 100 portraits of French personalities, as well as a series of "dreamlike perceptions", then develops an original way of restoring on silver paper his hapaxic vision of the great world metropolises.

His photos are regularly purchased from DROUOT.

From June 25 to September 18, 2016, the city of Compiègne (Oise) presented a retrospective of his works: "Yves Badyh: 50 years of avant-garde".
