Tiphaine Popesco

Born in: 1982

Tiphaine Popesco was born on December 25, 1982 and she lives and works in Paris. She has studied at the Beaux-Arts School in Marseilles and graduated in 2006.

In her photographs, she always associates the body and its setting. These settings vary, they are sometimes overloaded with objects, and sometimes more simple, and they are rarely the everyday environment of the models.

The objective of the setting is not to reflect their life environment or their belonging to a certain political or religious group.

These settings suggest an atmosphere and a narrative. Her models are isolated characters, abandoned bodies with their faces half hidden, expressing loneliness, weariness and boredom.

The nudity is an artistic choice that allows the body to be shown in its entire sculptural dimension. The faces are highlighted even more by the choice of the black and white and by the use of perspective effects.
